About Geography

The Department of Geography is a constituent Department of the Faculty of Social Science. The department was established in 1956 at Undergraduate Level and in 1985 Post Graduate Department was started. The first HoD was Prof. Lokesh Prasad. The Department offers UG course based on CBCS (Choice based Credit System), 4 years (8 semester degree system) and PG courses of 2 years (4 semester system). The Geographical studies comprises the study of Physical geography, Geomorphology, Climatology, Oceanography, environmental and Disaster Management, Rural Development Regional Planning, Quantitative Methods and Research Methodology, Human and Social Geography, Population Geography, Settlement Geography, Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing, Urban Geography, Economic and Resource Geography through classroom teaching both Offline and online, providing reading material and group discussion. Department maintains Post Graduate and Under Graduate teaching and research programs to develop the next generation of academic development.
